Piet Oudolf to Topher Delaney

Piet Oudolf - his approach has transformed the teaching of planting design across Europe, reinforced by books such as  Designing with Plants, Dream Plants for the Natural Garden, and Gardening with Grasses. He also represents the move away from mixed planting and shrub dependence into perennials, which has long been criticised as labour-intensive and demanding.  Oudolf had managed to emphazize the dynamic qualities of perennials and, by using plants that are mutually supportive, he also promotes the ease of care." "More than any designer, Oudolf has promoted the use of grasses in the garden border." Quote, he has said, Structure is the most important component in a successful planting: colour is important too but it is a secondary consideration." (Taken from Influential Gardeners Pg 49, Planting).

"Pascal Cribier, born on September 21, 1953 in Louviers (France) and died on November 4, 2015 in Paris, is a French landscape architect. With nearly one hundred and eighty public and private gardens designed in a thirty-year career, Pascal Cribier illustrates alongside Patrick Blanc, Louis Benech and Giles Clement a generation of gardeners who are both heirs of Andre le Notre in spirit, the sense of space and revolutionary in the eco-landscaping techniques used." Dan Pearson "Study at Wisley and Kew fed his interest in plants, and by this time he had received his first commission, to design a garden for Frances Mossman.  She was later the owner of Home Farm, Northamptonshire, one of his most famous projects." "Beth Chatto . .remains a major influence." "Thomas Church is another hero."  (Influential Gardeners, pg 53,  Planting.)

"Russell Page (1906-85) is regarded by many as the star of twentieth century garden design, yet he always described himself modestly as a gardener.  The Education of a Gardener (1962), his only book, is a testament to this philosophy."  Born in Lincolnshire, England." "An ardent admirer of Lawrence Johnston and his magnificent garden at Hidcote Manor, Gloucestershire, Page was to refer to this time and again in his work." (Influential Gardeners,  pg 122, Structural Emphasis).
