Noel Kingsbury, could not find when and where born but referred to as British

What I like about Noel Kingsbury and his work are his well researched and beautifully presented books on a multitude of topics. Until I found out the information for this critique of him, I did not realise that he had written so many books and on so many topics.  I realised that he had written design  books on planting schemes and small gardens and written his famous book, The New Perennial Garden, publ by Frances Lincoln, 4 April 1996.  Wikipaedia states "that he is probably best known for his promotion of naturalistic planting and his collaboration with Dutch garden and landscape designer Piet Oudolf on books on planting design." I knew he had done The New Perennial Garden with Piet Oudolf.  He also wrote Planting, A New Perspective publ 4 April 2013 with Oudolf and Designing with Plants. I had not realised that he had done other work with himHummelo, Publ Manucelli, was also written by Oudolf with Kingsbury. The topics that Kingsbury chooses to write on and very helpful for anyone interested in plants but most especially for horticulturists and landscape architects.  It is like having a friend, as he  produces attractive volumes on what is often a dense subject. I currently refer mainly  to his books on planting and design and small gardens (small is personal situation as well as study related).  However, he is an author that should several rainy days occur to prevent going out, it would be nice to look at the whole catalogue of his work. He seems to cover topics that contemporaries wish for information on. There is a lot of interest in the money saving aspect of perennials. Also interest in small gardens as houses are getting smaller and therefore like wise gardens (if you are lucky enough to have one are probably small).  Now he has written the first book in English on green roof and related green architecture technologies, in collaboration with Nigel Dunnett of Sheffield University.  Kingsbury completed his doctorate at Sheffield University.  His thesis was on "Longterm performance of ornamental herbaceous vegetation."

"Kingsbury's garden writing is among the best you will find in the English language." From the blog view from Federal Twist, 2 Aug 2009, James R Golden. This blog continues with Kingsbury explaining that he is involved in education, research and consultancy. "I am passionately interested in improving the way we communicate knowledge and skills  within the horticulture and landscape professions." He runs a course on perennials that he developed with Piet Oudolf.  He also does garden workshops, Garden Masterclass, with Annie Guilfoyle. He has contributed to What Gardeners Grow, 600 plants chosen by the world's greatest plants people, Publ Bloom.  Piet Oudolf has also contributed to this book.

Hachette on its web pages states that Kingsbury in addition to being an author, co-hosts with Tim Richardson "The Vista Debates, a monthly forum for the discussion of  garden and landscape issues, at London's Museum of Garden History."

So in addition to the books mentioned above, he has written:

Natural Gardening in Small Spaces

New Small Garden

Designing Borders

Wild, Publ Phaidon

Seedheads in the Garden

Design and Plant a Mixed Border (very useful for LA students etc)

Gardens by Design

So together with books above list in text, it appears to be 25 books including four joint ones with Oudolf and also includes  a book by multiple contributors alongside Kingsbury, called What Gardeners Grow, 600 plants chosen by the world's greatest plantspeople.  It includes a joint book he did with Jimi Blake. Once the green roof, architecture book is out it will be 26 books. Quite prolific.  Internationally renowned.
